Celebrated violinist Joshua Bell will be returning to Winona next summer to give a solo recital as part of the 2017 Minnesota Beethoven Festival, which runs from July 6 through July 23. Other guest artists of the Festival’s 11th season include cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, Dover Quartet, Boston Brass, Manhattan Chamber Players, and Orpheus Chamber Soloists. Beloved choral director Dale Warland will once again lead the Festival Chorale in a special weekend of concerts, and the Minnesota Orchestra will present the ever-popular annual free pops concert at Lake Park to open the Festival on July 6.
“We are thrilled that Joshua Bell will be back at the Festival. After his phenomenal recital this past summer, we know our audience will be very excited to welcome him to Winona once again,” reports Artistic & Managing Director Ned Kirk. Pianist Lang Lang will not be appearing at the Festival in 2017. Due to a schedule change, he now has to be in China during this time period, but according to his management, “Lang Lang looks forward to finding a new time in the future to come to this wonderful festival.”
Festival Ticket Packages will go on sale March 21, 2017, and individual tickets for all other performances will go on sale May 2, 2017. Further details about ticket package options and pricing will be announced in the coming months. Tickets will be available through the Saint Mary’s University Performance Center box office at (507) 457-1715 or www.mnbeethovenfestival.org.
